Join the Watershed Council for weekly family-friendly activities, crafts, and workshops on Wednesdays at 2 PM. These events are free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
June 7, Watershed Model
Come learn what the Watershed Council is all about through this hands-on watershed demonstration. As water moves across the land, see how rain, geography, and people impact its journey.
June 14, Fish Printing
Join us to learn about Michigan's fish species and make beautiful art in the process. Gyotaku, the traditional Japanese art of printmaking using fish, can help us explore the shapes, sizes, and textures that make our native species unique. ​
June 21, Macroinvertebrates
Mayflies and stoneflies and caddisflies, oh my! Explore our collections of macroinvertebrates and learn why catching them can give us important clues about the health of our waters. 
June 28, Stream Model
​The Watershed Council service area contains approximately 3000 miles of rivers and streams, which are all an important part of our watersheds. In this hands-on model, learn about how rivers connect lakes, transport water and nutrients, and are a vital part of our ecosystems.

July 19, Fish Themed Crafts
Come join us to decorate and assemble your very own paper fish! Michigan's fish are part of the ecosystem and important to the people who live here. Learn more about these different species while making some art!
July 26, Mural & Rain Garden Tour
Join us for a tour of our rain garden and rain garden mural! Learn about how rain gardens can help keep our waters clean and provide beautiful natural habitat to native birds, insects, and more. 
August 2, Invasive Species
Aquatic invasive species are non-native species introduced to an aquatic ecosystem that cause environmental and/or economic harm. Come learn about how these species got to Michigan, how to recognize them, and how you can help stop them from spreading.
August 9, Groundwater Model
Did you know that most people in Michigan get their drinking water from groundwater? Come learn about how that water ends up in your faucet and how certain human activities can be a threat to our water's purity.
August 16, Button-Making
Come make your very own, custom button to show your love of Michigan's waters! Decorate your button with your favorite lake, river, or even a macroinvertebrate.
August 23, Walk in Waders Day
When you work at the Watershed Council, waders are a part of the uniform! Come try on a pair of waders to see what it's like to work or volunteer for us. You can also check out the other tools that we use to take samples and measurements on our rivers and streams.
August 30, Fish Exhibit
Come join us to learn about some native Michigan fish. Fish play an important role in the environment, culture, and economy of Michigan. Come see the fish tank and learn more about these amazing animals!
