Stakeholders provide critical input into the watershed planning process that help identify issues of concern, develop goals, and propose management strategies for implementation.
The purpose of this survey is to help identify water quality and resource issues within the watershed and the necessary implementation steps to address them. Please respond to the topics below. What Do We Want and Need to Do to Protect Little Traverse Bay Watershed?
Please, at any point in time in the next couple of months, share any ideas for projects that you would like to see happen in the next 10+ years within the Little Traverse Bay Watershed. These projects or initiatives should primarily relate to nonpoint source pollution, but may also address invasive species, climate change, etc. They can be somewhat general in nature or with more specificity. See examples.
Examples:
General: Improve stormwater management by implementing green infrastructure/LID projects
Specific: Install rain garden and educational signage in Walloon Lake Village
General: Improve road/stream crossings on priority sites (as determined by LTB RSC inventory from 2013)
Specific: Replace Tannery Creek culverts at Chase Bank and US 31 with stream channel-spanning structures
General: Improve greenbelts/riparian vegetation on Walloon Lake
Specific: Develop and implement a greenbelt cost/share initiative in partnership with Walloon Lake Association
Specific: Apply water quality/greenbelt recommendations from Gaps Analysis as they apply to all jurisdictions on Walloon Lake
Specific: Promote greenbelts/riparian vegetation to Walloon Lake property owners by installing demonstration projects,
hold workshops, and developing Walloon Lake-specific publication on greenbelts, etc.
