SPEAK UP TO SAVE MICHIGAN’S WETLANDS PROTECTION PROGRAM NOW IS A CRITICAL TIME FOR MICHIGAN WETLANDS ADVOCATES!
WE MUST SHOW UP IN FORCE TO THE MARCH 17TH COMMITTEE MEETING ON THE FATE OF MICHIGAN’S WETLAND PROTECTION PROGRAMS! PLEASE COMMIT TO SHOWING UP OR PROVIDING WRITTEN TESTIMONY TO CALL UPON ON LEGISLATURE TO KEEP MICHIGAN’S WETLAND PROTECTION PROGRAM!
We need to make sure the legislators hear from as many people as possible that getting rid of Michigan’s wetland protection programs will jeopardize our water resources and create delays in permitting, putting a burden on critical economic development in Michigan. Questionable savings from slashing wetland protections are not worth the undeniable costs. Alternative solutions exist to protect Michigan’s environment and economy.
In an effort to be fully prepared, we would like to keep track of any individual, organization, agency, etc. who intends on providing testimony either at the hearing or in writing. If you plan on providing testimony, please let Jennifer McKay know at jenniferm@watershedcouncil.org.
If we can be of any assistance with this public participation process – taking points, how the process works, etc. – we would be glad to help. Also, we would be willing to deliver written testimony to the committee members if anyone is unable to do so.
The Michigan Wetland Action Coalition (MWAC), a project of Tip of The Mitt Watershed Council, is a network of wetland protection advocates across the state. MWAC is focused on promoting sound wetland protection policies at the state and federal level through education and advocacy.
